Cavos Inn

Assos, Kefalonia

Traditional family run pension with exceptional views towards the Lixouri peninsula

The Cavos Inn, situated on a narrow promontory beneath the Venetian fortress, offers a unique and tranquil experience in the picturesque pretty Kefalonian village of Assos. Owned by Vasso, originally from Crete and her Kefalonian husband, Vassilis, this traditional family-run pension is renowned for its inspiring views towards the Lixouri peninsula and its exceptional hospitality.

The Inn boasts a well-thought-out design, with each room tastefully furnished in various styles featuring light fabrics. All rooms are equipped with en-suite facilities and have private balconies or patio areas. Those on the south side provide breathtaking views, seemingly hanging over the waves, while west-facing rooms offer vistas of old vine terraces, pine woods and the historic Venetian castle's honeyed walls.

A short five-minute walk downhill takes you to the tree-lined plateia of Assos, where you'll find traditional fishing cottages, tavernas, village shops and the attractive harbour surrounded by caves, cliffs and old vine terraces. The town beach is easily accessible and even on windy days when the Meltemi wind churns the surf just a few yards away on the other side of the isthmus, the harbour remains calm, perfect for watching fish swim beneath the taverna tables.

The Cavos Inn perfectly encapsulates the essence of Assos—a tranquil, unspoiled fishing village protected by a historic castle, all nestled along a majestic and rugged coastline. On occasion, you might even spot dolphins or turtles in the surrounding sea, so it's advisable to have a pair of binoculars handy. The breakfast terrace offers spectacular panoramic views of this beautiful coastline, providing a serene and gentle start to your day.

For those seeking a refined and exquisite experience set amidst breathtaking natural beauty, the Cavos Inn is an unbeatable choice. It's a place where you can immerse yourself in the tranquility of Assos while enjoying the beauty of nature and the rich history of the region.
