Standing in a lofty position surrounded by fruit trees and olive groves Daphne Kalivi is a perfect example of how
a stone dwelling can blend harmoniously with its surroundings. Enjoying a spectacular birds eye views over
the dramatically lush Potami valley, the house is perfectly located to experience seclusion and relaxation. It is
hard to believe that Skopelos town with its bustling tavernas and waterside cafes is only a fifteen minute drive
away. Yet Daphne Kalivi is where all that is best of the old and new have been brought together to create the
perfect setting for a peaceful holiday.
This delightfully traditional cottage is set in an orchard facing the unspoilt Potami valley. Although not as old as
Damaskinia, it has been built in the same style as its neighbour. Daphne is approached by a path, with a number
of steps, which meanders through an old vineyard, crossing a leat that once brought water from a spring higher
up the hillside. Most of the vines have gone, but the terraces are now filled with Mediterranean herbs.
Even the swimming pool is surrounded by banks of lavender and rosemary. The barbeque terrace at the side
of the house is covered by dried ferns cut from the surrounding hillside. There are excellent opportunities for
discovering peaceful walks along a maze of footpaths threading out through the olive groves.
The interior of the cottage has a simple but comfortable layout. The living area has traditional built in benches
on each side of the open fireplace which can be used as day beds and a well equipped kitchenette, from here
steps lead down to a shower room. Upstairs the master bedroom opens out onto a private roof terrace that
attracts the morning sun with lovely views across the valley.
A spreading chestnut tree behind the cottage provides shade and privacy. We highly recommend this unique
cottage for those looking for a quiet hideaway in beautiful surroundings.
