The landscape of Paxos has hardly changed in centuries. The famous olive groves that cover most of the island are still largely tended by the descendants of the families who first planted them in Venetian times. Hidden amongst the trees is a scattering of small hamlets where many of the houses have been built from the original stones cleared from the land when the trees were first planted. Such a house is the Villa Georgina which has been sensitively restored to provide all the modern comforts without compromising its original features with the added benefit of a secluded and very private setting in the hamlet of Fanariotatika. Conventional measures of time and distance thankfully mean very little on Paxos but the villa is located close to Gaios village and the many east coast beaches; peace and quiet does not mean isolation here.

The terraces leading down to the swimming pool then on to further terraced gardens planted with many of the typical Mediterranean fruit trees. In the late spring and early summer any lack of fruit is more than compensated for by the scent of citrus blossom, whilst later in the year fresh oranges picked in the cool of the early morning add a new dimension to breakfast ‘al fresco’, a theme that is maintained by the barbecue and dining area on a side terrace.

Inside the villa has been sensitively designed and furnished to give a fully fitted kitchen with an open plan living and dining room opening on to the terrace and gardens.
