Humble it may be, the daisy or margarita is one of the joys of the Ionian landscape. From late winter until high
summer, carpets of flowers grow in such abundance in the open shade of old olive trees and by the roadside
that perhaps a more appropriate name would be snow in summer!
Although the Margarita Apartments are not named directly after the flower. A short stroll through the trees will
reveal them in all their glory, together with vermilion poppies in spring and purple cyclamen in summer. For
plant lovers these comfortable modern apartments, set in a lovely garden surrounded by the famous Paxiot
olive groves and just a few minutes drive from the island capital of Gaios would make a perfect base for
exploring the surrounding countryside on foot.
Anyone seeking a peaceful, rural setting without isolation would feel equally at home here. The tree lined
beaches and coves of the east coast, the picturesque harbour villages of Lakka and Loggos and the dramatic
west coast with its high cliffs, caves and natural arches, are all easily accessible.
There are seven apartments, all comfortably furnished to a good standard. Each has its own private balcony or
terrace and is fully air conditioned. There is a large shared swimming pool set on a raised terrace overlooking
open woodland. Comfortable sun loungers and plenty of dappled shade make it the perfect spot for that
essential relaxing siesta. Paved pathways lead through the gardens and beyond to the well worn shepherds
trails which can be found through the trees in every direction.
Set back from a quiet road, there is a delightful feeling of privacy at the Margarita Apartments with its riot of
bougainvillsea and jasmine. Time here has a completely different meaning.
