The small island of Paxos is just ten kilometres long and four kilometres wide, yet over the years continues to captivate us with its peace and tranquillity. There is a genuine friendliness here with a traditional and simple lifestyle together with a sense of sheer serenity. Despite its size Paxos is an island full of pleasant surprises. The western coastline marks the end of Greece, with its surrounding sea, the gateway to Italy. The setting sun on this side of Paxos truly and colourfully brings the island to life. We were delighted when Joanna (the owner) agreed to us adding her beautiful Villa Bougazi to our portfolio.
Enjoying a privileged position above the sea Villa Bougazi is certainly a unique house. Its commanding panoramic views look out across the western coast and over the huge circular cisterns at Ellinki which were built by the Royal Navy in 1837. The sound of the waves pounding against the cliffs below is truly and immediately relaxing. Although the villa gives you a sense of absolute seclusion, it is in fact only a 5 minute drive away from the wonderfully picturesque harbour of Gaios. The nearest taverna is in village of Zenetisatika, a 3 minute drive away or less than a 15 minute walk.
The interior accommodation is cool and spacious, blending contemporary fittings and furniture with the traditional Greek elegance. The large picture windows allow natural light to stream in and bring the captivating views into the house. There are two twin bedrooms - one overlooking the patio, the other with views of the west coast and a double bedroom with a balcony overlooking the sea.
It is often extremely difficult to find a holiday retreat that combines tranquillity with convenience. Villa Bougazi is definitely just such a place. With modern comforts coupled with the indescribable beauty of the area, you have the perfect ingredients for a truly memorable holiday.
