It is impossible to imagine Corfu without its olives. Toughest of all the fruit bearing trees, they will thrive on the rockiest, steepest mountain slopes, such as those rising up to the islands highest peak, Pantokrator. Man has helped them (and the donkeys who traditionally carried the sacks of fruit down to the presses in the valley) by building the characteristic dry stone terraces across the hillsides. In more recent times these self same terraces provide the setting for such lovely villas as Firefly. The olives flourish in the sun and open situation, and in turn lend their shade, colour and texture to house and garden.
The house and its wide terrace and large swimming pool are built out from the slope. Not only does this mean totally uninterrupted views, even whilst swimming, but also in high summer it catches the pleasantly cool, afternoon breeze coming down off the mountains behind.
The interior of the villa matches its setting, being very attractively furnished with great style and equipped to a high standard to afford every comfort. The first floor comprises a large double bedroom with en suite bathroom and two twin bedded bedrooms, one also with en suite bathroom and a separate shower each with a balcony facing the sea, giving plenty of space for the larger family or group.
On the ground floor the open plan kitchen and living/dining room also face the sea and open onto a partly shaded elevated terrace, with its own traditional barbecue forno and ample seating. This in turn leads to the gated swimming pool.
The unspoilt fishing village of Agios Stefanos together with the superb Avlaki beach is just a few minutes drive away. Windsurfing dinghy sailing and other water sports are all available to keep the energetic entertained. Excellent beach and waterfront tavernas and bars will keep everyone well fuelled, and the bustling resort of Kassiopi is only a few miles distant for those seeking further entertainment.
