Surrounded on three sides by the Ionian Sea and on the fourth by the high mainland hills of Epiros, for these agricultural and seafaring Lefkadians, the direction and strength of the wind is all-important.
Standing in a lofty position above the village of Tsoukalades, there are magnificent views across northwestern Lefkada, and on a clear day as far as Paxos. The whole area surrounding the villa is farmed traditionally and at grape harvest in September and olive-picking time in November is a hive of activity.
The villa is named after a particular Ionian wind. Ostria, a moist and warm southerly breeze. This theme has been used to add individual touches to the comfortable and spacious interior. The subtle use of pastel shades, locally made craft pieces, and specially chosen fittings and furniture, inset with pressed bougainvillaea flowers, bringing the atmosphere of the surrounding countryside indoors.
Outside, the villa has a private swimming pool, its own private landscaped garden, a part-shaded terrace, complete with barbecue and cloam oven, perfect for alfresco living. The villa is approached by a steep climb up the fertile hillside reaching the commanding position that maximises the magnificent views of northern Lefkada. Facing northwest, the villa is perfectly positioned for enjoying truly spectacular sunsets. The beautiful beach and village of Agios Nikitas is only five kilometres to the south, and Lefkada Town, six kilometres to the east.
Ostria has two bedrooms. A double bedroom and a twin bedroom, a bathroom and shower room and an open-plan living/dining room and kitchen leading onto the terrace.
Villa Ostria is an ideal holiday home away from it all, but not involving a major expedition to reach civilization, with their unique character, comfort and a relaxed ambience.
