Bernadette Askouni

My connection to Greece began when I was 17 and it’s shaped both my life and my career ever since.  By the time I was twenty I was living on one of the Saronic islands Hydra for three years and thereafter moved to Piraeus, when joined the Greek cruise industry for 15 years both in Greece then in their London office where I travelled extensively, learning the rhythms of the islands first-hand. That was followed by 5 years at the Greek National Tourism Organisation in London, where I assisted the Director and deepened my understanding of Greece’s culture, heritage and tourism landscape.

For the past 20 years, I’ve been part of Ionian & Aegean Island Holidays, helping guests discover the very best of Greece through handpicked villas, expert guidance and warm, personal service. Along the way, I even made Greece my home — owning a house on the Pelion for 10 years, a place that allowed me to experience everyday Greek life beyond the holiday brochures.

Even with decades of experience, I’m still learning about this extraordinary country. Greece has endless layers and I’ve made it my ambition to explore every part of it before I eventually hang up my working boots. Sharing that passion with guests and helping them fall in love with Greece in their own way remains the most rewarding part of what I do.
