Skiathos Island guarantees a delightful culinary journey, Whether you seek the refined ambiance of upscale Greek restaurants, the charm of traditional tavernas, or the diverse flavours of international cuisine, Skiathos offers an array of dining options to satisfy every palate.

Feta cheese & olives

Feta Cheese

Made of sheep’s and goat’s milk and produced in blocks, Feta is the most popular Greek cheese used in lots of Greek dishes, salads and even pastries.

High quality feta should have the aroma of ewe’s milk, yoghurt and butter, together with a smooth and thick texture.

Kolokithokeftedes - courgette balls with tzatziki

Courgette Balls

These lightly fried balls are certainly among the most popular starters on the Greek table - usually paired with some freshly made tzatziki.

Greek coffee and spoon sweets

Greek Coffee

There are lovers and haters of Greek coffee, also known as Turkish coffee (although when in Greece best to order as 'Greek' is preferable). Those who've experienced it either adore its robust aroma and thick consistency or struggle to take even a sip.

To enjoy this unfiltered coffee, it's recommended to add a spoonful of sugar; otherwise, you might find yourself among the haters sooner than you think.

Galaktoboureko

Galaktboureko

For the majority of Greeks, Galaktoboureko is the tastiest sweet in the country. Made of homemade pastry and custard filling with eggs and milk, and drenched in syrup, Galaktoboureko resembles the French mille-feuille.

Unlike the French delicacy though, in this instance, the custard is baked with the pastry.

Pasteli

Pasteli

Pasteli is a sesame seed candy made of local honey. You will find Pasteli in a flat bar, just like a chocolate bar. Pasteli is another delightful, sweet snack.

Bougatsa

Bougatsa

Has to be Greece’s most popular breakfast pastry, made of homemade custard between layers of filo pastry. In every bakery on the island, you will find a warm Bougatsa.

In most bakeries you will also be offered the savoury version of the pastry. You can find the Bougatsa where in place of custard, the pie will be filled with cheese or minced meat.

Greek honey

Honey

The islanders take great pride in producing their own high-quality, exceptionally tasting honey. Skopelos's rich biodiversity and pristine environmental conditions foster the cultivation of this unique and exquisite product.
