Papanikolis Sea Cave

Papanikolis Cave

The Papanikolis Cave on Meganisi is a fascinating natural wonder that beckons adventurers and nature enthusiasts alike. Situated on the eastern coast of Meganisi, near the village of Spartochori, the cave is easily accessible by boat from the island's main ports of Vathi and Spilia. 

Named after the Greek submarine "Papanikolis," which famously sought refuge here during World War II. It served as a hiding spot for the submarine, allowing it to evade detection. It’s an impressive sea cave, featuring a large entrance that leads into a spacious chamber. 

The cave extends deep into the limestone cliffs, creating a dramatic and awe-inspiring environment. Inside the cave, you'll be treated to breathtaking views of the sea and the surrounding cliffs.
