Antipaxos 

This close neighbour of Paxos is accessible by regular boat services from Gaios and is renowned for its stunning coves, white sandy beaches, excellent snorkelling, remarkable sea caves. 

Despite being popular with day trippers, it's worth visiting, especially if you head south to avoid crowds. With three tavernas but no shops, it offers a rustic experience. 

Legend has it that an Allied submarine sought refuge here during World War II. Visitors can also opt for round trip mini cruises from Gaios for a convenient exploration of the island and its surroundings.

 

Folk Museum 

Gaios' folk museum, housed in a former school building on the seafront around 200m south of the square, offers a glimpse into the region's history and culture. 

Exhibits feature an 18th-century bedroom with period furniture and costumes, alongside a collection of items spanning different historical periods, including musical instruments, guns, and firearms. The museum welcomes visitors daily from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm and from 7:30 pm to 10:30 pm.

Magazia Village & Erimitis Cliffs 

Nestled beneath the island's highest point, Magazia village provides stunning panoramic view. It’s a popular spot for alike to relax and everyone to enjoy stunning scenery. 

The Erimitis Cliffs fall in vertiginous sweep of white limestone which evokes a sense of awe and wonder. These cliffs not only add to the natural beauty of the area but also serve as a reminder of the power and majesty of the forces that have shaped the landscape over time. Come for sunset as many do to see the everchanging colours! It is simply stunning!

 

Explore Traditional Villages

Wander through the charming villages of Gaios, Loggos, and Lakka. These traditional villages offer a glimpse into local life with narrow streets, colourful houses and inviting tavernas.

Rent a boat from Gaios or join a guided boat tour to explore the island's magnificent coastline and nearby islets. You can visit secluded beaches, sea caves and swim in crystal-clear waters.

 

Explore Paxos on Foot 

Pack your walking shoes and explore Paxos on foot. There are several scenic trails that lead you through olive groves, vineyards and beautiful coastal paths offering stunning views of the Ionian Sea.

Olive Press Museum, Magazia

Visit the Olive Press Museum

Learn about the island's olive oil production at the Olive Press Museum in Gaios. Explore the exhibits showcasing traditional olive oil extraction methods and the importance of olives in Paxos' history.

 

Visit the Venetian Fortress

Explore the ruins of the Venetian Fortress overlooking Gaios harbor. The fortress offers panoramic views of the surrounding landscape and provides insight into Paxos' historical significance.

 

Wine Tasting

Paxos is home to a small but growing wine industry. Visit local vineyards such as Domaine Giannikos or Lefcothea Winery to sample Paxos' wines and learn about the winemaking process.

 

Paxos Culture Festivals

Paxos has a number of festivals, art exhibitions and music concerts throughout the summer.
