Overview

Making the most of its elevated sublime mountainside location is Villa Thea. The view from its eastern side is breath-taking with the picturesque harbour of Skopelos Town spread out along a sheltered bay, backed by green hills, pine forests and the azure Aegean Sea beyond.

Inside, the ground floor the accommodation boasts a fully equipped kitchen, an open plan living and dining room that opens onto terracing and a shower room. Upstairs are three large bedrooms - two doubles (which share a balcony) and a twin. A large shower room, which includes a washing machine, is shared by all three bedrooms. The swimming pool is surrounded by hardwood decking, with a lawn spreading out beyond. Local stone has been used to great effect, both on the terrace walls and slate for the roof. The modern barbecue area is perfect for al fresco living and may well prove to be the most popular area of the house.

Location

Mount Palouki is not only one of the most sacred in the Sporades Islands, which is the site of three ancient monasteries, it also protects the natural harbour of Skopelos Town. Palouki, meaning pencil in Greek, perhaps due to its profile, narrows to a sharp point and a string of outer islands and is criss-crossed by ancient trails connecting the three monasteries higher up the slope. A stroll along any of these in the cool of the evening, just as the lights come on far below and the sun has dipped behind the hills of the interior, is a memorable experience. The ascent to Mount Palouki rewards hikers with breath-taking panoramic views of Skopelos island, including its coastline, picturesque villages and the sparkling blue waters of the Aegean Sea. On a clear day, it is even possible to see neighbouring islands such as Alonissos and Evia.
