A five minute drive from Fiskardo along the eastern coastline brings you to Matsukata, the charming family village of Tassos and his wife Rowena. It is hard to believe you are so close to bustling Fiskardo, such is the wonderful atmosphere and peace of your surroundings.

The Alexanna Apartments consist of two sand coloured houses with traditional shuttered windows, both carefully and lovingly constructed around the family’s precious olive grove. Some of these trees are many hundreds of years old. The pretty buildings were originally built with their children Alexis & Anna in mind, hence the name “Alexanna”.

The accommodation is comfortable and maximises its location and the views. There are a total of six apartments in the first house: two studios, three one bedroom and one two bedroom apartments, with three studios in the second.

A pleasant fifteen minute walk brings you to the traditional village of Manganos, where you will find a well-stocked store, a greengrocer, kafenion and family run taverna with sublime sunsets.

A very real sense of tranquillity surrounds you at Alexanna Apartments and the affection the Matsukis family feel for their village is palpable.

Whether it is the play of light upon the glistening sea, the sun and shadows on the green hills of Ithaka or the contrasting shapes of the slender cypress’s and the broader olives swaying gently in the breeze, no two apartments have exactly the same view from their balconies but all are equally memorable. All apartments have the wonderful view across the green forest carpet towards Doliha Bay and to Ithaka beyond. Two of the ground floor balconies are sheltered from the sun by a canopy of vines and a third by bougainvillaea. Comfortably and thoughtfully furnished, Tassos and Rowena want you to feel at home.

Alexanna is surrounded by an abundance of vibrant and fragrant flowers and shrubs, carefully planted and regularly tended by Rowena. The gardens behind are beautifully landscaped, with a swimming pool set in a glade of hollyoaks and olive trees. The pool side is a perfect place to relax, as there is little to disturb you apart from the occasional sound of the goat bells from the neighbouring hillsides.

Once you have arrived here, we are sure that the only problem you will encounter is tearing yourself away from this magical haven at the end of your stay.

Ourania: Sleeps 2 - 4 - Penthouse 1 bed apartment with twin beds. 2 sofa beds in the lounge/kitchen leading to balcony
